Swansea have shown their steel in the Premier League of late with a hard earned point away to Southampton in a 1-1 draw at St Mary’s last weekend and an impressive 1-1 draw at home to third place Chelsea.

But Michael Laudrup’s side have won only one away league game this season, coming on the opening day in their emphatic 5-0 win against QPR.

Newcastle, however, endured a surprise 1-0 defeat last weekend at home to newly promoted West Ham a week after they impressed in a 1-1 draw at Anfield against Liverpool. The Toon have won only three of their six games at St James Park this season, with their latest win coming in a 2-1 victory over West Brom.

The last time these two sides met in the 2011/12 season, the Swans were outdone by the brilliance of striker Papiss Cisse who grabbed both goals in a 2-0 win at the Liberty, including a spectacular chip over Michel Vorm. In the reverse fixture at St James’ Park earlier in the season, both sides played out a bore 0-0 draw. The last time the Swans beat Newcastle away was in a 2-1 win back in the old second division in 1980.

Prediction – Newcastle 1 – 1 Swansea
