  Dortmund midfielder Brandt underwent surgery on his wrist last week, according to a report from . The procedure was carried out during the international break after the 29-year-old was omitted from the latest Germany national team squad.

  The surgery was required to treat a scaphoid fracture in Brandt's left wrist, an injury he sustained during a Club World Cup match against Fluminense in mid-June. The initial plan to treat the issue conservatively did not yield the desired healing progress, and with the player bothered by an arm splint, the decision was made for him to have an operation.
